In the summer of 2016 when I was an intern in the Web & Mobile Application development group at Central Hudson Gas & Electric, I was tasked to update one of their old processes. The employees of Central Hudson each fall have the opportunity to donate to local United Way and other charities as part of a corporate campaign. The old process required distribution of paper pledge cards which had to be moved around via inter-office mail and entered into a corporate mainframe program prior to my work. All data is held in a Microsoft SQL database, and logins are handled through Active Directory logins on employee computers. My work streamlined this process and cut out a middle man work for corporate campaign chairs by allowing employees to set up donations themselves. Below is a screenshot of the homepage:
Since not all employees were required initially to use this system, my website can also generate a new style pledge card for employees to use. The administrators of the campaign have an administrator control panel, which allows them to modify, and insert pledges sent manually. Below is a side by side comparison showing the old vs new pledge card:
Shown below are screenshots of the process of making a donation on this system, from choosing charities/United Way to confirmation of donation:
Last is a screenshot of the administrator's control panel. This allows campaign administrators to update campaign years, update logos, update agencies to donate to, create pledge cards and run reports to get campaign info. Access to this portal is facilitated by a user group in the corporate Active Directory server.
